This was such a fun Christmas story, very reminiscent of One Day in December and Two Lives of Lydia Bird, with a woman reliving a day several times as she tries to figure out what will make her happy. It didn’t tip over into frustrating which I was glad for, and it made for an enjoyable evening reading by the Christmas tree! If you like cheesy Christmas movies and feel good love stories, I think you’ll enjoy this one.

I’ve LOVED following @eholmes on Instagram for her #somanythoughts on the royals and their fashion (and more) so I was stoked to get her book and dive in even deeper! I learned SO MUCH (legitimately, i did not know Charles cheated on Diana. i apparently have lived under a rock.) and found it to be such a fascinating look at each of these four women how they’ve used their style choices to make statements of all kinds.

I don’t read many graphic novels, and even fewer graphic novels in translation, but I’m so glad I read this one. It covers really deep and heavy topics (war, death, protests, feminism, etc) in a way that felt really human and real, with touches of levity and humor and so much love woven throughout. It was really well done!

I loved Roald Dahl as a kid but didn’t remember this one (Matilda was my fave) so it was a fun and fast read.

I’ve loved following @brimckoy on Instagram for a while, and finally read her book thanks to @readingwithmegan’s #readingwithmeganreadathon and @theunreadshelf’s #unreadbookbingo today! It was a lovely collection of stories, recipes, anecdotes, and questions for conversations around the table. It was the perfect thanksgiving week read! Aaaaand made me miss the pre-Covid days of getting to gather with friends and share meals more. Can’t wait to get back to those days!

(ps— TW for mentions of rape/sexual abuse and prostitution in the red light districts, a military death)

I have never EVER seen a prettier cover.

I love @kaitlincurtice and all that she brings to the world— her voice is a beautiful one and her perspective is a needed one. I’m so grateful I’ve gotten to hear her speak at @evolvfaith — the way she invites us into a deeper and richer engagement in the world around us and respect for the world too is incredible. We need to listen to Native voices, like Kaitlin’s Potawatomi one, and humbly learn from a people we have far too long neglected, ignored, silenced, and worse. Definitely recommend reading this one (or Glory Happening, her first book) and continuing to read from other Indigenous voices.

Everything about life in the White House fascinates me. I loved reading The Residence from the perspective of the staff, but this was a fun one to get the perspective of the first daughters. I loved their sisterly bond, their stories from their family and vacations and growing up around politics, and I especially loved seeing more glimpses of both George H.W. and W. I can’t imagine having both a grandfather and father be president... wild. George W. Bush was president for so much of my childhood (from 9-17) but I honestly know very little about him, so this was a really interesting peek behind the curtain. I have a lot of respect for both Jenna and Barbara and how they’ve lived their lives, especially with so much public scrutiny and attention. A fun memoir!

This book kept me up late last night (until I started freaking myself out and had to watch Emily in Paris to unwind) and was the first thing I picked up this morning... so good!!! Had me hooked from the start, was both predictable and surprising (which I like!) and had a fast pace, especially at the end. Ware knows how to write a thriller for SURE.

The first half of this one felt slow but then it got GOOD and I was SO GLAD I took today off (
