this is the follow-up to Well Met, a cute and fun rom com centered around a renaissance faire. This one didn’t have quite the same sparkle as the first, and I had the plot twist totally figured out which made it less interesting (it was super obvious) but it was sweet and more on the PG side of romances, if you like love stories without as much steam!

The premise of this one fascinated me— it’s fictional and centered on the question “what if Hillary hadn’t married Bill?”

Like with American Wife by Sittenfield (also fiction, based loosely on the life of Laura Bush), I felt like this one was 200 pages too long and incredibly slow, and ultimately, I just think the writing style isn’t for me.

The concept was better than the execution here, in my opinion, although it was interesting to see an alternate political reality play out for HRC.

I needed an easy and breezy read after a full family weekend, and this one did the trick! A quick, light, predictable, enjoyable romance read (#3 in the series! although it could stand alone, you just wouldn’t catch the references to the other books’ characters). It was just the kind of fun fluff I (not so secretly) love.

This was my second J.T. Ellison book and it sparked a whoooooe controversy in my stories about the collective love/hate relationship we have with spoilers! I’m a MAJOR fan of spoilers, especially for thrillers, since it helps me ease into the story and stress less if I have a snippet of the ending and know where it’s going. It honestly made this one a lot more enjoyable for me! It’s VERY Gone Girl-esque, almost too much so? But it kept me hooked still.

Major trigger warnings for the death of a baby, domestic abuse, and some references to abortion, rape, and the allusion of an inappropriate stepfather relationship.
