This book was ADORABLE and lovely and just so delightful. Love a good exploration of self and ancestry, love an honest developing mom/daughter dynamic, love a sweet love story, love a strong and quirky female lead... such a winning YA read!

Thanks to @randomhouse for the free book! // This one had me guessing until the very end— a murder trial ten years ago layers with a murder in the present day, and the chapters flash between the past (through the eyes of each juror who let the presumed killer walk free) and the present (following the woman who led the charge of the innocent verdict and is the suspect of the present day murder). It’s intriguing, for sure! Didn’t see the end coming at all.

To all people who battle depression: read this.

You all— this book. It’s honest. Essential. Unflinching and yet gracious, simple and yet profound, transformative and provocative and powerful. I’m grateful for it. I’ve been so convicted lately by how disordered so much of my life has become, how I’ve become truly addicted to things that take me away from what I was made for. This book was a safe hand to hold and a steady guide into a new way of living, one where everything falls into right order under Divine Love and where abundance and freedom reign. I’ve been changed by it and it’s a gift. I can’t recommend it enough.

A suuuuper short collection of thoughts on womanhood, but not one I really connected to at all. I think older women would resonate more with the stories and find it relevant, but it never hooked me!

I have loved learning from Science Mike over the years (on The Liturgists podcast and at the Evolving Faith conference) and I was so excited to read his new book. I highlighted a lot of this one, especially in the chapters about learning to love our bodies and how our brains work, and so appreciated the combination of science and stories and honesty and heart in these pages.

I really, really enjoyed this one. It’s totally my kind of love story — slightly predictable but endearing anyway (and with enough surprises to keep in interesting), a great meet cute, a strong female best friendship, a few emotional moments, male love interests with actual flaws and annoying moments... overall, a charming and cozy read perfect for this time of year. Now, when will this be a Netflix original movie?!

I really enjoyed the first and second books Guillory wrote, but after reaaaaally disliking the third (The Wedding Party), I was hesitant to get this one. But, she redeemed herself with this one! It’s cute and charming and set in England (bonus points) and made for an enjoyable and easy read by the Christmas tree one evening.
