I think the plot was actually too complex for my brain to get around and I'm still not 100% sure I understood it. The beginning was pretty good, the middle was slumpy and the last 30 pages just gave me a big headache but I like the writing and the characters are interesting enough so I'll read book 3 at some point.

This was genuinely such a fun and inventive story, it's a great twist on A Christmas Carol, with some really fun Monsters Inc vibes. But unfortunately, the last 30 pages really ruined the experience for me. I'm hoping to read it again sometime next year to fully form my opinions on the ending.

This was so disappointing. I read Warcross earlier this year and had a bunch of fun with it, but this conclusion was nothing but a letdown. I still think the actual game aspect of these books is fantastic but overall, I'm not a big fan of Emika and I just got a totally meh feel from this duology.

This was amazing. I think I've fallen in love with Alice Hoffman's writing this year as well as her characters. I loved how interesting this book was, it's a sequel to a movie & book that I've never seen so I knew nothing about the future plotlines in the series. I love the writing and the characters and the strong sense of family in this book, if you liked Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore this is probably a great book for you to try out.

This was so so good. It was entertaining, interesting and very dramatic! This series would really be the perfect fantasy/political drama and Netflix needs to pick it up asap!
I loved these two stories and learning about the different queens, it really put me back into the story after I'd been away for a few months! This definitely isn't necessary to the series but it gives some great context to the characters and background of the story and I definitely recommend reading it after book 2!
