I thought I was going to love this and it was going to be a new favourite but unfortunately, it wasn't! I really thought it was so funny in the beginning but I quickly fell out of love with this one. This was such a fun idea but by the end, too many things were going on and the plot was too convoluted. Also, and this is such a nitpick, I just didn't think the "twist" at the end was very twisty since I called it from the very beginning and I never fell for the romance. I'll definitely check out more of Jesse Sutanto's books in the future, this one just wasn't everything I wanted it to be.

I...I don't actually know what to say right now. I was really excited to read this one, particularly since I've never read any of Peter Swanson's books before but have heard good reviews so to say this book came as a bit of a shock to me is an understatement. I just felt the whole time that the author didn't actually understand how scary men can be to and against women but he used it as a plot point anyway. A distinctly un-thrilling thriller, a bad plot with a conclusion that makes zero sense and a total waste of time.

This was so good until that last chapter (+ epilogue) lol. I genuinely had so much fun reading this, from the main plot to the characters I just never wanted to put it down but then the ending was so offputting to me that it lost a half star 🙈, sorry 'bout it. (It's nothing bad at all, I just dislike the trope).

I'm not gonna lie, I skim read some of this one. I wanted to like it because I really do love exploring books out of my comfort zone but God damn I didn't enjoy a single second of this.

Yo literally wtf was that last 40% though? This was kind of fine but felt a little sus and then the ending just felt like too much stupidity for me to handle.

I cannot express how happy it made me to be back in this world again. Don't be surprised if you see me re-reading the rest of the series this year!

I loved this. I got so much more out of the story the second time around, this is definitely worth the read if you can handle the writing and the strange plot.

I liked this but there was something stopping me from loving it. I loved the characters and the whole group dynamic, this was such a perfect dose of magical realism and reality that I honestly don't know what to say. This was fantastic and I'm amazed at how few people have read it.

Genuinely cannot believe I've now read this 6 times and also that even though I've read this 6 times I still cannot stand Donatella. I'm a Scarlett girl, through and through.

Re-reading books 1 and 2 so I can finally read Finale. I was in a bit of a funk today so I decided to pick this one up and as cheesy as it sounds, the writing and the world of Caraval really did lift my spirits today!

This is so detailed and beautifully written. It has its flaws and I talked about a few of those in my updates but, I can't help but love it.

I just re-read this in preparation for Legendary and while I didn't love it as much as I did the first time, I still really enjoyed it! I can't wait to listen to Legendary!
