I loved this book but I think the first one was better. I NEED THE THIRD ONE NOW!!

Okay, that was absolute trash. In the beginning, I was under the impression that Beau was more level-headed than Bella but then I began to realise that that was total bs because both Bella and Beau are completely insane. I'll admit that this book is definitely a different experience and I did see the ending coming but I hated having to read the last few chapters (they were complete trash).
I just thought I would share this beautiful (disturbing) quote in case there's anyone who hasn't read the book:
"Her pale arms, her slim shoulders, the fragile-looking twigs of her collarbones, the vulnerable hollows above them, the swanlike column of her neck, the gentle swell of her breasts—don’t stare, don’t stare—and the ribs I could nearly count under the thin cotton. She was too perfect..." - Page 199

I love this book, I really do. For as long as I can remember I have been reading this series and I have loved it every step of the way. This year, reading the series was like coming home, a breath of fresh air. Even though the pain and the heartache in this book I was smiling (on the inside though, because obviously I still cried a lot - SO MUCH PAIN) because I love these books, and honestly, I always will.

The first time I read this book I hated it, now it's probably one of my favourites.

I'm so glad I re-read this series, it was so much fun! I still have to re-read Stars Above but, I can say that without a doubt, I had so much fun going through this story with these characters again. I will hopefully also do this again a few years down the line just to revisit my faves since I had some pretty interesting and different reactions reading this series 4 years later. This was such a joy, and I really enjoyed the political side behind the war in this book, honestly, it was just so cool to see the BTS of all the characters and all sides of the war, even if it did make the book a bit longer.

I loved every second of this book to be honest, there is soo much action and I absolutely LOVED learning more about Lunar. This is one of those very rare books where I actually love all of the main protagonists (Cinder and her crew) and I absolutely love that about this series.

Okay people the girls in this book may be a bit annoying at first (that's the understatement of the century)... but we have lesbians, a black girl, a trans character and a deaf character. A+ for diversity Libba Bray.
Aside from that, it's about these girls finding out who they are and who they want to be outside the beauty pageants... it's actually pretty good because most of these girls have been forced into this life and the longer they stay on the island the more they discover who they want to be.

All those references though. If I have to wait another 2 years for the next book there will be hell to pay.

This was so so interesting and such an interesting look-see into Levana's side of the story. That being said this was incredibly distressing to read and I won't be picking it up again. MAJOR trigger warning for rape and non-consensual kisses & relationships.
TW: Descriptions of murder, death, mentions of execution, abuse, physical disfigurements, nonconsensual relationship & kisses, rape, murder

I won't be commenting on or rating any of the books in this series. I want to stress that I am merely reading this because I grew up loving HP and still love the characters today. However, J K Rowling is hot garbage and I do take issue with her and her beliefs. Trans lives matter.

The first time I read this book I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. I have since read this book again. The Giver is now one of my favourite books of all time.
