Insta-love is my eternal enemy. You would think the FMC would take a bit longer before falling for someone she has been raised to hunt.

But if I overlook that, it was a sweet paranormal romance about healing from abuse and religious (sort of) trauma, and reclaiming your body.

I was left with some questions about the soul taking, like girl, you could break up and she would still have your soul. Like let's not be hasty.

If this author has not watched Supernatural, I will actually eat my hat. I spotted so many nods to that show that it cannot be a coincidence.

If you're looking for an action-heavy plot, this isn't the book for you.

I personally thought the FMC was a bit too quirky but I mostly shook my head at it. I quite liked this, but I don't tend to be too harsh on romances anyway. I would have liked to see more of the fake MasterChef show. I love MasterChef. This is mostly about the romance with show vaguely being described on the background. But yeah, sweet and tropey.
And there is a 3rd act break up, just fyi for those who hate them.

Very sweet and supportive romance with quite a few spice scenes.

I think I personally need more drama in my romances because I felt a tad bored at times. The conflict they do have is due to lack of communication that is caused by the love interest wanting to appear tough and like they can handle anything by themselves, which I found relatable. But if you hate miscommunication/lack of communication in romance, just a warning.

The other FMC is a trans woman and she just left an abusive relationship. The abuse was financial and emotional, not physical. Warning to those sensitive to the subject.

Topics explored: grief, abuse, transphobia, sexual awakening, older daughter syndrome

very nostalgic read and great insight into haymitch. personally I was left wanting more. my reading experience might have been affected by the fact that I have not read the OG trilogy in a while. i did tear up at the end.

One of the best fantasies I've read in a while.

Be warned tho, the main character is a pretty shitty person who is very much a product of the racist, misogynist society she grew up in. She does develop towards the end of the book tho, but if unlikeable main characters aren't you thing, maybe consider skipping.

pretty perfect fanfiction of the original but I would have personally liked for Carmilla to be more evil. Let women be evil 2025.
also Laura just completely accepting all the murder- like girl, get up.
