I've really liked Alexa Donne's sci-fi retellings of classics, so I was interested in how her YA mystery would be. It was interesting overall, and I mostly enjoyed it. It had a few points where it got a little slow for me, but I can see my students really liking this one!

I had just watched Love, Rosie for the first time and wanted to read the book, and found I enjoyed it more! The slowest of all slow burns in a romance, but so worth it. I liked the writing style of the book, and it made me laugh and cry at different points. Really it's a love story without really being a love story, and I really liked that.
The magic system for this world is amazing, and to me that's the best selling point. I'm generally not into teen love triangles in a dystopian/fantasy world, but the world itself made up for it mostly for me in this one. I can see this series being really good moving forward, so I will definitely keep up with it!
