The characters felt a little more developed in this issue. Hazel and Cha-Cha were even more unhinged in this version. I like the TV series second season better, but I still love this series!

Some books are so important and moving they need to be read by everyone, and this is one of those books. It is moving, and unflinching, in its topic. The illustrations are beautiful, inventive, and heart wrenching, and the story itself is a moving mix of history and personal reflection. This books is too important for it to go unnoticed. 

This book was interesting, especially as I’m single and about to turn 30. Annie’s journey was interesting, although I wish there was a little more meat to it. I also wish Sophie’s background was a little more fleshed out. Honestly, my favorite part was Ralph! There should be sentient, adorable pet spiders in every book in my opinion. 

I loved Eve and Jacob’s story a lot. It was very cool to read a book with Autism representation where Autism wasn’t the focus. The characters were sweet and spicy, even though the rest of the Brown family was a bit more difficult in this one to me. 

This book was so powerful for so many reasons. The changing narration style and characters should have felt disorienting, but it added to the beauty and magic of this book. Centering Urban Native voices is so important and a perspective that doesn’t get the attention it deserves. I’m so happy the author is writing a follow-up to this book because this book felt like the first half of a moving story, and I need to see where it goes. 

This story was fun and funny and had a few great characters, but it was almost too complicated for its own good. There were a lot of twists, and a lot of information dumps, so while it was entertaining it wasn’t my favorite. 

I got this book because I thought it was a rom-com; it was in a table for rom-coms at the bookstore and the cover is in the same style. It was absolutely not a rom-com, and nothing like I expected, and I absolutely loved it. I loved the family members, I loved the mystery, I loved the narrative style. At first it was hard to follow, as the narration switched between characters, but then I got it. Yes, it had some slow moments, but the beauty of this book is almost in those slow moments. I just loved it, and I really didn’t expect to, which makes it even more beautiful. 

I think I liked this book, but I don’t honestly know how or why. I think I would read it again, and I would recommend it, but it feels elusive somehow. It wasn’t overly exciting, or dramatic, but there was some beautiful writing and the closeness of it made it feel so real. 

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Family dramas aren’t usually my thing, and I definitely liked the first half better than the second. But I still really enjoyed the characters. The twist was surprising and I liked it’s addition to the story. Overall it was an interesting read!

Very cute story with a great academia focus. I love that it started its life as a fanfic, it just makes me giggle. The characters were fun and I liked their relationship a lot. My only issue was books that have the main character make assumptions based on their insecurities make me sad, and the long-standing crush part of it I find just a bit unbelievable, but it was still worth the read!


Edit 1/24: in hindsight, i didn’t enjoy this as much as I thought. It was very contrived and relied too heavily on the fanfiction, and pretty much nothing happened. Ali Hazelwood is just not an author for me.
