A perfectly solid graphic memoir, discussing things like immigrants, the idea of the other in America, and road trips. 

I liked this memoir because of how honest the author was, and how, while she had a focus on her life with figure skating, it was also about so much more than that. She was able to reflect a lot of different experiences in growing up and discovering who you are, and I really liked that. 

The first two books in the series didn’t really blow me away; I liked them fine, but not that much happened. I guess Katherine Arden saved up the whole plot for this last one! It was a wild ride from start to finish, and I was on board the whole time. A really great ending to this series, definitely made me understand the hype around the trilogy. 

This book definitely had a different direction from the first one, but I still liked it. Vasya was growing and becoming more adventurous, and this story was definitely darker than book one. I’m very interested in where the final book in the trilogy goes!

Stan Lee is a such a large figure in comic books, and I just love that he wrote a graphic memoir. It moves quickly and the artwork is just reminiscent enough of comic books to match your expectations of a Stan Lee memoir. 

Historical fiction is not normally my thing, but I still found myself tearing up at the end of this book. I was very moved by the family and all of the tragedies they faced, and how they were able to keep their hope alive. I’m glad I read this book!

This book had so much more going on than Finnikin of the Rock, and honestly I think it suffered a little for it. It was just so complex that it was hard to keep track. I missed Finnikin and Isaboe and wish there was more of a focus on them, but I also liked the  broadening of the world. Froi’s character development from the first book was incredible, and Quintana was a heartbreaking and wild character to add into the story. I’m really excited to see where this trilogy goes, since I’ve enjoyed it so much so far. 

The first half of this book was fine. It was really funny dialogue and I liked Kara enough. Her friends were great, except for how they consistently pushed her to be with her ex. But that ending. It made me so mad and irritated that I almost didn’t finish it. I saw it coming a mile away but thought I was wrong, but it ended up so much worse. Everything about the ending made me dislike pretty much every character, and the epilogue was so unnecessarily cringey I was furious. I might read this authors other books, but this one is a hard no for me.
