This was a story I was totally unfamiliar with, and I think that was a benefit. I loved the world, but thought the pacing was a bit off. I also wanted more of a resolution to the story, as the ending felt quick. Overall, though, I liked it!

Everything about this should have made it an automatic five stars, but it was just lacking something. The characters were good, but the plot was a bit boring. There weren’t very high stakes, and the pacing was a bit slow. There were even too many on-the-nose references to Beauty and the Beast for me, which I didn’t think was possible. All of that would have been fine, though, if it weren’t for the cheesy notebook moment at the end. That just solidified the cringe for me and dropped my rating at the very end. Still a cute story, but it needed more.  

It took me a while to read this, but only because it allows the reader to walk away from time to time. I think I could have gotten more out if it if I were truly studying, but now I fully get the hype around this book. 

I’m used to Alexis Hall books being funny and lighthearted, but this one had so much more depth and romance that it surprised me. The complexity of the characters was amazing, and even though it could be called too long with not enough happening, the emotions were enough to make up for any of that. Truly a delightful book. 

I really wanted to like this, but I was overly annoyed with the main character for the majority of the book. She reminded me of April May from AART, but not in a great way. The mystery was fine, not that exciting for me, and there were too many side moments that I didn’t enjoy. 

I liked this one more than the first, I think! It was really funny and had a lot of action, but mostly it was charlotte and Alex that I liked the most. Charlotte was wild and slightly insane and I loved her for it! I’ll be excited to try the next one in the series. 

This book was so thought provoking and interesting. I haven’t come across a text that so deftly defines intersectionality while so clearly imparting wisdom. I wanted more depth in places, but I think that’s a fault of me and my lack of knowledge, not the authors. 

Once again I read a book in a series without knowing it! I liked this one, though. I liked the complexities of the relationships and the romance between the leads. My one complaint is that it’s too long. There were so many steps along the way, and even though it was well paced it still felt like it dragged. 

This was a solid story. I liked the relationship between Noah and Michael, even if Michael was a shithead sometimes. Noah’s mothers story was a bit convoluted for me; I just wish there had been more evidence about it, or there be less attention given to it. 

While I relate to the struggle of the main character, it was still hard to read a book so solely focused on marriage. Even though the ending is a satisfactory ending, I still wish there was more to the story.
