My biggest issue with this (and all retellings) is the fine balance the books need to strike between honoring the original text and also providing new takes on these stories. This one felt like it was drifint too far at times, which is only important to me because of how much I love the original. However, once I settled into this world, I came to enjoythe story and this fresh take. Every new choice was grounded in honoring the original text, but also honoring the communities that the author belongs to. They were able to bring a great nuance to the story, and gave a happy ending to a not-happy story. 

It took me a while to settle in, but I ended up enjoying this book. Isabelle’s story was captivating and kept me invested, even when I didn’t love Vianne’s story. The ending got to me, although I do still think it was longer than it needed to be. 

I liked the nuance of this mystery, even though the final reveal fell a little flat to me. Moore as an antagonist wasn't that unique or interesting; I felt like I had him figured out from the beginning. I did enjoy seeing all of the boys' perspectives and the different narrations to add elements to the mystery.

A really simple memoir. It had a cute art style, and I liked the afterward with what her career has been like, but it was very straightforward. 

A really moving memoir, and the artwork was beautiful. It was just a little too subtle sometimes, or there were jumps that I didn’t quite follow. Still a heartfelt story!

This is one of those books where pretty much nothing happens outside of the romance, but I still liked it. I related a little too hard with Shani and how dumb she was over her first love, but I still liked it! A cute YA romance.

A perfectly fine memoir, but I wasn't overwhelmed by it. It felt a bit repetitive, which makes sense since it was focused on the author's experiences surrounding how she feels about herself, but not my favorite memoir that I've read. 

This book was WILD. I thought I knew where it was going and I was so wrong, and it got so much more crazy than I anticipated. I do love the mix media, but I don’t quite know if I actually liked the book (I may have just been so surprised by it). I was gripped by it, and was ultimately satisfied with the conclusion, so I’m rating it high!

This was a perfect mix of fairy tale and feminine rage and I loved it. The setting was great—just developed enough that it felt real but not overly complicated. All of the characters were amazing. Agnes, the dust wife, and Bonedog were incredible and so memorable, and Fenris was a great love interest. I also enjoyed Marta and her determination, she worked well as a narrator.
