I cannot resist a story about teenage girls in cults. I can’t remember if I knew explicitly that it featured a cult when I first started reading it, but I was pleasantly surprised along the way. This book certainly deserves at least as much hype as The Girls. There are some very good tension building details sprinkled throughout, and one very good moment at the end that leaves you wondering, “Wait...was it...?”

One of the best books I read this year! I love love loved it. So heartwarming. ☺️

2020: i listened to the Duke Classics version this time. It was nice. I like how in the end of the book Austen is like "And Elizabeth taught Georgianna how to be saucy. The end." Way better than saying how many kids everyone had.

2015: I've lost track of how many times I've read this book, but it's good every time. This round I listened to the Blackstone Audio production and the narrator was great. She does voices that are satisfyingly similar to the A&E mini series.

This is the first Wilde book I've read. It was very good and I enjoyed it, but not like OMG I HAVE TO READ THIS AGAIN good. It's a classic for a reason. That said, I think I was feeling a lack of side character development, and it appeared that huge jumps took place with very little being said about them.

This was long overdue for a re-read because I didn't remember the story at all! I love the prolonged romance and the classic Janeite villain.
