I haven't been this excited about a YA series in a while. This was such a breath of fresh air and I let out an actual scream at the end with a twist I did not see coming at all.

20 years later and much of Pipher's social commentary is still applicable. This was a really interesting read and I liked a lot of what Pipher had to say. However, it was based on case studies (and there were so many) and less on scientific studies making this book a much more casual read than a scientific look into adolescent girls.

Without a doubt, one of the most frustrating books I have ever read. What started as a series about an amazing female friendship turned into a series about a girl making out of character decisions all about a guy who she honestly barely knew. I'll read the last one only because I have a compulsive need to find out how it all ends.

for fucks sake, Rose honestly thought Adrian would compel her to have sex? Which would be rape. Like Rose legitimately thought Adrian would rape her. And after all her horrible slut shaming attitude (which was my only dislike of the first novel) she easily decides to be a blood whore. Like talk about the worst characterization ever. Lissa is the only reason this book received two stars instead of one.

EEEEEEEEEEEEP.

Also when characters from her first two novel show up and ~something happens~ I threw my book across the room squealing.
