Listen - I can put up with anything for ~200 pages.
As other reviews state - there are some grammar/wording issues, but for me it doesn't take away anything from the plot or characters of the book.
I really enjoyed the plot and the world the author created, my main complaint was I really didn't like Fern and Calum. Calum was too old to act the way he did and Fern had to grow up too quickly to be as immature as she was.
I also was unable to read Calum without it being in Gollum's voice as he says his own name - but like gagging on his name... This is 100% my fault as I made the joke in the beginning of the book in my head and then suffered for it 🙃

This was so cute 🫠
The side characters MADE this book - I need a side novella for each of them just so I can spend a little more time with them.
I did also love August and Jane - but I didn't like how literally everything went "right" for August. Like sis took a month off school to sit on a subway with Jane and still has a 4.5 GPA.... in what world? Also the power imbalance of her and Jane's relationship bothered me if I thought about it too long.Jane is fully reliant on August to "be there" in order to be remembered - and when she gives up literally her whole world as she knows it and gets mad ONE TIME August freaks out. Like hello - a relationship is two people WITH feelings.
I did really enjoy the time travel aspect of the book. I thought it played into the "science is weird and we don't know everything" aspect that made the book more believable. Especially as an engineer where so many tests are "lets throw it all together and see what happens" - it pleased my science heart.

I’m in love with the world Laini has created!
While this book might have themes similar to ones in other fantasy worlds - I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with characters like this. I had no idea how everything was going to tie together for most of the book and LOVED it! Laini gives just enough information at a time to keep you either squealing on the couch or yelling, “WAIT I GET IT!”
I’m not going to list out the qualities and quirks I love about each character because I would be here all night and I need sustenance.
That’s it. No notes. I love it.

I really enjoyed the concept and overall plot of the book, it's the characters that sometimes made me want to pull my hair out.
Charlie - my girl - sometimes she made my eye twitch with anger. I understand she was going through it, but damn. However, I absolutely LOVED the ending scene with her family where they all finally start to share their issues - so cute.
I never fully fell in love with Beckett, it felt like Elle tried to make him the new Dean Di Laurentis - and he could never.
Last complaint is that Elle made me love Will (even back in Diana's book) and thenhim and Charlie never get a 1:1 scene?! Beckett gets like 3!

My oversharing ass could never be found in this kind of pickle lol
Very predictable plot, but I had a good time - probably because I felt so called out by the FMC's thoughts.
Wish it wasn't fade to black though 🤷♀️

This one started off slow, but I really enjoyed this book - especially once I let go of my logistics questions when it came to them kissing lol
The side characters were amazing and I will hear no judgements against them.
My biggest beef with this book is the villain arc -it felt like the cigarette dude was build up so much just to come off as a dumbass follower at the very end. Then we find out he's just some patsy doing the dirty work for this witch we never met. I don't think I would've been as miffed if the cigarette dude had remained stoic lol

Had never read a tennis romance - but I will now be reading them all!
This book was an easy read, and while there was a little miscommunication sprinkled throughout - I really enjoyed the book overall.
Only regret is that they didn't beat the dad up 😅😂

The only reason this book is even above 2 stars is because of Zara and Miriam... but honestly I wanted to throttle Miriam after the 75% mark of this book. That and the overall message of redemption was pretty.
That being said... War doesn't have any redemption in my eyes - he doesn't care about anything until that thing effects him directly. The shit that Miriam overlooks is WILD to me. They're both dumb.
