This one was a spectacular breath of fresh air, strangely enough. The educational yet joyful vibes of this authors writing kept drawing me further and further in. There’s nowhere to get bored in this. If you’re a fan of true crime but would love more featuring women and the horrors that have happened well within the past, this is for you!

My thoughts are a little jumbled on this one I'll be honest. But here's a very spoiler-free review. There are quite a few things I enjoyed about this book and her writing style is absolutely stunning to read. You really do feel everything she's telling you on the pages.

I thank you for your sweet time.

Akin is similar but very different. It’s a harsh contemporary fiction about family, between Noah and a great nephew Michael which he’s never met. It’s emotional and thoughtful when you arrive at the end. The mystery of family is met with the unspoken truth of belonging to something. Literally fiction can be hard to get through, this book was slow as it detailed the relationship between our characters so well. It’s reflective and hopefully when it comes to a close.

I REALLY don’t know why I waited so long to explore the world of Holly Black. Everything she describes is so purely and perfectly whimsical. Whether she’s talking about the fantasy world she’s created or the modern world along side it. You can feel the adventure. It makes you want to venture outside and turn over a leaf in search of fairies and other nonsensical creatures.

I love Jude Duarte and how she perceives herself as you read and discover more and more. She’s slightly thwarted by herself and her need to prove others wrong, to a fault. Personally she comes across as a very much imperfect MC and I LOVE that. But most of all the descriptions of everything were my favorite and made me wish I could read these things in an actual encyclopedia! The lessons they take, the things they come across, foods and drinks, EVERYTHING. It’s a stunningly dark and gorgeous tale.

I think the author has a promising future in writing. I hope to see more from them in other genres as well! While I can’t say this book was anything short of decent, I’d say it didn’t exactly deliver on the spine tingling thriller it labeled itself. The anticipation for what was to come slowly fizzled out with predictability and too many layers. I’m sure this is someone’s cup of tea but for what I was prepared for, not necessarily mine. I do hope to see more!

A psychological thriller to keep you continuously guessing during the 2nd half of the book. So much of this had the bones of a great thriller and the twist kept you turning for more. The ending wasn’t exactly what I expected it to be, neither good nor bad. I’m not sure I can say I LOVED the way it ended but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment. It’s important to tackle mental health in an illuminating way and I think the author did a superb job in doing so.

Short stories to intertwine your mind with the macabre and Halloween vibes of fall slowly falling upon us!

A fun versatile cookbook! It was immediately something I HAD to see for myself and I’m glad I did. The recipes sound fun, exciting, and tasty! My only issue being that the lack of real photography was a quick downer for me. The illustrations were cute and fun but it just didn’t click the same.

I think this is the perfect retelling to hunt for when you’re craving something dark, snarky, and full of life. Our main character is so much fun to follow and hear her inner thoughts, I found myself laughing out loud MULTIPLE times. Our “Beast” lives up to his hype and gives us surely wounded man vibes the entire time. I enjoyed the shifter aspect and overall it was quick and enjoyable! I’d def recommend.
