this was SUCH an interesting read. I loved that it was a ton of short stories all set in the same fictional town in California. They were hilarious with such deep underlying emotions attached as well. The author definitely has a way with words and I really enjoyed getting to know each story and the characters. It’s a quick yet thought provoking read all the same!

Thank you so much Book Sparks!

This book beautifully and scarily captured the heartbreaking terror of being on vacation and something happening to your child, something out of your control. She did such a fantastic job with an eery atmospheric plot that had a twist at every single corner. So much so that I didn’t know what I was getting into with every chapter! I’m a huge lover of suspenseful crime that is fast-paced and has you on the edge of your seat! Just keep in mind the subject matter please.

This was such an interesting read! I haven’t read too many books that take place in New Mexico and now I regret that even more! I love the deep rich culture that the author showed us and while I’m not sure on its authenticity, I think from what I know she did a fantastic job! This was fast paced and such a good read, now I need to go back and read Redemption! Her writing is stunning and absolutely had me sucked in.

Wow this was something otherworldly, in the way the author portrayed our main character and even side characters. The realistic yet heartbreaking depiction of loss, trauma, and the grief after. This was a ride up until the very end and I definitely recommend a read. It’s something special to open up our emotions and take a deep look when facing this type of tragedy!

Historical fiction that truly shows the mistakes and horrors of the past are SO important. This book follows the mass expulsion of of Mexican Americans in Los Angeles during the 1930s. A devastating number were mass deported, even those BORN in the US. We follow Manuel and let me tell you it is heartbreaking to see the torn apart families. The heartbreak, grief, and even confusion hold absolutely no bounds. This was such a moving book. I definitely recommend!

This was such an interesting read! For me especially because you wouldn’t look at my tastes and expect me to read this. But there is something to be said for the camaraderie amongst sports. I loved the historical aspect that took us down a path of these coaches lives. It was heartbreaking in parts, even. I definitely recommend!

It’s hard to find beautifully poetic stories like this one that are also equally thrilling, mysterious, and full of secrets. One of my favorite story settings is Maine, the entire aesthetic and vibe always put me in awe. I really enjoyed the authors characters and the depth behind them, especially Lacy. Finding her mom takes us on such a ride of discovery! I definitely recommend.
