Set in a startlingly dark YA setting, this book leads us to places we don’t think possible. Thrilling yet dark romance could take the forefront. Our main character is grappling with grief and her crush on her best friends boyfriend. Her grief consuming her and everything around them. There’s some twists and turns that while slightly predictable are quite enjoyable and well rounded. This sits in line to showcase the authors fantastic way with words and her lush writing.

This was an absolutely fascinating read! It teaches us quite a few things on the cunning folk and the way of life in a time where it was very common and accepted. We think back and that’s not something that would first come to mind. I really enjoyed it.

This was SUCH an important book and I know it’ll make children feel so heard and understood (I mean it worked for me). A lot of kids no matter the age feel left out of their families, especially with divorce and absent parents. Family secrets are another dark cloud that hangs over us constantly. This was a beautiful way to describe how our main character felt and what she did to overcome it. The time in Trinidad sounded beautiful and deeply lush at the same time. The horror, adventure, and family aspect are gorgeously done simultaneously.

I loved the way this world was written and how lushly magical the author was able to describe it. I think this is absolutely perfect for fans of YA fantasy with a touch of dystopia. It gives hunger games, throne of glass, and shifters all in one. I really loved Kiera, our main character, and her adventure. This has the beginnings to be a brilliant fantasy read.

This!! Played to every emotion yet it was an absolute delight to read! I think this is the perfect little book to make us feel seen yet explore it in ways we might not have thought. Honestly I’d read this again as well. It was just too cute in some places while being devastatingly emotional in others.

I really enjoyed the frank freshness this gave and how it depicted the freshman “experience” at college. It was unique enough to be original yet gave us very relatable content about what someone goes through. Plus the illustrations were so fun and quirky, I loved it just from how curious I was to turn the page each time.

If you’re stuck in a family rut of busy life, different day to days, and stagnant conversations. This would be beautiful to not only read from at family dinner but just when you’re sitting around relaxing after a long day. It’s important to make time and truly understand each other. Definitely give this a try!

I loooooooved this!! This is the exact thing my daughter would love to sit and pick out all the things she wants to try. It’s educational yet fun and has just as many experiments that kids can do on their own. I loved how they were broken into categories as well. Such a fun and scientific book, we need more!!
