It took awhile to get this book in the mail! I think I was on a second shipment or something but it just came in the other day!
This book was intensely interesting and unique in its depth. The at first very uncomfortable feeling story has you wondering why we’re here in the first place. Especially through the interwoven time lines following these 3 women. But it’s easy to see it’s a story or growth and how we’re perceived by others. The way we’re told to be vs who we’d like to be. I thought it was strangely beautiful as the book went on and loved when it came to an end all the same. I definitely think this is a read to contend with.

This takes paranormal horror to a new level. We’re the audience to a feast of depth as we enter this story. Which is one of oppression, misogyny, and the terrifying religious extremism girls face in small towns. The horror aspect starts with the eery vibes and is explained through the dark mysterious creature the Lord of the Wood. I really enjoyed how complex our main character, Leah, is throughout this entire thing. With the fast pace we’re still somehow delighted to a slow creepy setting filled with horror and pain. The ending with her discoveries really sealed the deal and I enjoyed this one immensely.

I really enjoyed reading this richly unique story that while having some of my favorite tropes, still managed to stay fresh and compelling. I really loved the main character and the flaws that came with them. Plus this high fantasy world was so full of depth I felt like I knew exactly where we were. You should DEFINITELY give this a try and experience it for yourself! You don’t want to miss it. Plus the authors writing was so smoothly done and so eloquent, it really hit home.

For me this was a grilling yet surprisingly soft suspense with a uniquely rich storyline that kept you hooked. I really enjoyed the characters and I think the authors writing was smoothly done! The conversation about true crime was definitely interesting and I thought very well done to bring it up as a point of discussion. I really enjoyed all the different angles and representation throughout the book.

Had your fill of the usual holiday reads? Looking for a fast paced novella that has the writing and depth of a 900 page tome? I think you'll love this one. The cover reads COZY suspense vibes and lures you in for the absolute insanity that the character lives through. I really enjoyed it, considering my two favorite "Christmas" movies are Black Christmas and Gremlins, it makes sense. You should most definitely give it a try. Especially if you're looking for that specific lil spooky something right before the holidays.

It is an atmospheric read with the chilling stories being set in a swampy, watery, and/or fishing area. I agree when I say most of these gave off campfire ghost story vibes but I loved it. While all of them flowed very easily into the other it fell slightly short when trying to really creep me out. Maybe that's not the story's fault and more my overexposure to these. I also really enjoyed how richly built each little world and character felt.

The author has such a way with words, especially when creating such a cute and charming atmosphere. The characters were SO easy to like and you really root for them the entire time. I thought the way she subtly includes the conflicts and biases girls face when gaming and even in private schools was super refreshing. Plus the challenges that arise with all of that were really interestingly handled as well. There was quite a twist close to the end and it honestly left me very surprised I wouldn't say it was super necessary but the book was definitely still enjoyable at least. The romance was sweet and I loved the focus on topics like cyberbullying and toxic masculinity.

I am honestly SURPRISED at how MUCH I loved this one. It really gave us a great synopsis and then delivered every single vibe I not only wanted but didn't even know I NEEDED. I'd describe this as a dark rom-com with the perfect amount of banter that made even the goriest of moments feel light and hilarious. It had more fantastic tropes like Friends to Lovers, considering they're both serial unalivers really had me. Just the perfect mix and now one of my favorites.

This was a uniquely and strangely written collection full of poetry not only for your head but your soul. It was meant for someone and yet gives us all a piece of what the author has buried in their mind.
