Beautiful art style and I would almost definitely read the second book, if only out of curiosity of where Yugo Limbo plans to take this story. However, I had a hard time rooting for the main romance (at least in the beginning). It felt very rushed, and Mr. Neighbor was very creepy right off the bat, making me reluctant to want him and the main character to be together. Although maybe that was the intention? I'm not a huge romance fan, though, so It does take quite a lot for me to ship a relationship. I wish I liked it more than I did, but I can tell so much effort went into the making of this book and I'm so glad the author and other readers got so much out of it <3
It's also worth noting that I don't generally read graphic novels, so a lot of my problems with it may just be because I am not used to this medium AT ALL. Still, though, this was a super intriguing story and I think if you're considering reading this to go right for it!

This is truly an amazing book. DNFd it because this is a book intended on being used as a reference, and I just don't want to read this type of book front-to-back.

finally done with it! favorite series of all time. Can't wait for ship of destiny! There's a lot of intrigue, and tons of aspects about the magic system that are revealed in this book. Hobb really knows how to craft a compelling story

Honestly I treated this like a fanfic, and with that I really enjoyed it. DNFed the first books yeaars ago because the romance was annoying, and although I didn't hate the romance as much this time around I still was kinda like meh about it. Seeing Gabriel grow as a person through Layne was great, although apparently they only knew each other for a few weeks I think before they started getting all hot and heavy and I was like ??????
but ANYWAY. I certainly would have liked more growth between the brothers, and see them open up to each other for once. Like Gabriel was so repressed this whole book I'm just like talk to someone, please. Like Layne and and Gabriel were cute n all, but seriously, I just wanted him to make friends and open up with people who weren't romantic interests.
I enjoyed the book, though. Read it in a day. Had some things I disliked in it that I didn't mention here, but I still enjoyed the read. I know this is romance so idk why I'm so shocked that there's so much, but still. I probably will read the rest of the series. I like having books that I can casually read like this. Hunter is really boring and I think the next book may be about him so.... yeahhhh
