Apollinaire's poetry is realistic and moving, especially in the context of Paris.

I was expecting a cheesy easy summer read about ambition, choices and a year in Oxford but it ended up being so much more than that. A story well worth reading, for the aesthetics of living in Oxford from an American's perspective alone, and something I finished in about 8 hours. Fantastic premise, full of all of my favourite tropes and fantastically executed. Cannot recommned this highly enough.

Pleasant read, funny, witty and cute. Orenstein placed just enough hints at the beginning of the novel to neatly tie all of the loose threads together at the end.
I found the main character to be a bit too cold and calculating, while aloof and manic at times, otherwise this was a fantastic read and a story that captured my attention like no other.

It was an entertaining read but I found there wasn’t enough character development, there were quite a few loose threads and I missed having a more concrete resolution.

More like 4.5⭐️

I loved the romcom concept and the mishaps the main character kept getting into. The plot twists were surprising, even when I thought I had them figured out, I was wrong. I loved the character interactions and it was a book I couldn’t put down, and even when I had to, I kept thinking about it.

The only thing I found detracted from the reading experience was that the supporting cast of characters had at most one personality trait which didn’t really flesh them out too well.

Other than that, I highly recommend it and it’s now making me want to watch more movies from the 1950s.

It was an easy and entertaining read, with a diverse cast of characters but there was no resolution, lots of loose ends. Overall, I enjoyed the book but I was very disapopinted by how unresolved the ending was.

Interesting story, likeable narrator, plot twists that will surprise you and the writing flows easily.

Excellent execution of the two sides of on coin, vaguely reminiscent of The Versions of Us but it felt cleaner, tied all plot points and little coincidences from both parts nicely by the end of the novel. It was an easy summer read, finished it all in about 4 hours, and I couldn't put it down. I definitely recommend it for someone looking to lose themselves in a story for a little bit, give some thought to what the 'right' choice for them is in terms of career, partner or location to live in and think about how the things

Excellent book, absolutely adored the concept and i didn’t see some of the plot twists coming. It was well written, on of my favourites from Matt Haig.
