Love at First Knight

Megan Clawson

DID NOT FINISH: 37%

The characters were insufferable, there was no real conflict and I did not find either of the interesting, engaging or loveable.

Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

The characters speech was inconsistent with their background, the miscommunication trope was in full swing and if I could beat myself with this book, I would. The writing and interactions between the two were a bit cringy and both characters felt young and naive despite being in their late 20s/early 30s.

Loved the F1 setting, but I didn't expect it to be so explicit, even for a spicy romance novel. Not mad, just surprised.

I loved Medea and while I disagreed with the choices she made, it certainly made for a very satisfying victim to villain to victor arc. After more than 2 decades of following someone else's path and plans for her, she finally breaks free to seek her own path and glory.
I think the jumps in time were effective but I would have loved to see what happened in the last 5 years prior to her becoming queen of colchis.

This is like the worst parts of Gossip Girl without the excellent editing to keep the audience hooked. The characters were so juvenile and they never seemed to learn from their actions. I hated the love triangle, the abuse of drugs and alcohol, the second chance romance. The ending was the worst kind of cliffhanger and it put me off reading the rest of the series.
