An anthem for revolution, Wild Embers, was beautifully crafted to instill the power women have. I adore Nikita Gill’s poetry as her words are always inspiring.

This is my second R.M. Drake poetry book I’ve read and it was okay. There are a few poems that stand out with it’s beautiful and lyrical message. Then, there are others that sound too ... preach-y. I don’t particularly like the poems with a religious connotation.

The problem with this collection, in my opinion, is the lack of uniformity. The subject matter of poems are ALL over the place and I wish that were similar in themes.

He writes SO MUCH that this isn’t too much to ask, and it would give the collection more depth.

This is my second TJR book and I cannot explain how much I loved the writing style, narrative, and characters. I listened to this on audio because it was recommended to me to read in this format. I think that Daisy Jones and The Six is the kind of book that holds a different tone when listened to because of the characters. Each narrator added so much richness and complexity to their designated character. I could feel the giddy and girlish happiness in Karen. The brute, indifferent masculinity in Warren. The jealousy in Eddie. The sweet and strong nature in Camilla. The loyalty and sweetness in Graham. The silence of Pete (literally). The pain in both Billy and Daisy that caused my heart to break.

So much emotion is relayed in narration and I felt like I was there, interviewing each member of this iconic 70s band. I’ve never felt so attached to a fictional band like I have to Daisy Jones and The Six.

I loved this story so much. I loved how the idea of perception can be seen intricately in each character as they all relay a memory differently. I love that there was a definite storyline with subplots that matched its primary story.

I will be thinking about these characters for a long time. I will be thinking about the possibility of Billy x Daisy in another life.

If you haven’t read a TJR book yet, pick this one up. It is extraordinary and I highly recommend listening to it.
