This book is definitely my FAVORITE this year (and my favorite in my 2 last years of reading)!!! I loved everything about it : fast-paced, dragons, love story, magic, fierce female main character and a lot of mysteries... absolutely all my favorite themes!!! The writing is so captivating that I couldn't put the book down! I really can't wait for the sequel as this one finished soooooooo greatly on such a cliffhanger! If you love the themes I listed above, you should definitely give it a try! It's definitely a masterpiece for me!!

Quel bouleversant récit! Qu'est-ce que j'ai pleuré en le lisant... tellement d'émotions à découvrir cet amour si puissant d'une mère (et d'un père) pour leur fils. La plume est comme toujours d'une douceur et d'une précision qui vous font entrer dès les premières pages dans l'histoire. Une belle pépite à lire et relire !

Quel bien joli voyage que celui de Myriam qui surmonte ses peurs tout au long d'un récit emprunt de magie, de douceur et de bienveillance. L'écriture est tout en délicatesse ce qui permet de suivre ce récit dans un état d'esprit ouvert et détendu. Bien que ce soit un récit pour un jeune public, je l'ai beaucoup apprécié en tant qu'adulte. Une petite perle à (faire) découvrir pour les nostalgiques d'un monde où la magie semblait si réelle qu'on s'y fiait sans barrières...

Une bien jolie découverte que ce fabuleux univers du sorcier frugal... un monde plein de mystères et décrit d'une belle plume poétique : que demande le peuple? Pour ma part, ce fût une petite bulle de douceur et d'humour décalé qui m'a permis de savourer cette lecture originale et légère. Une très belle réussite et je repars avec l'envie indéniable de lire plus de livres de cet auteur.

I haven't read Pestilence yet but as I saw we could read those books individually, I jumped on the occasion to discover War and well... I loved it! Of course first I hated War as much as Miriam but... just like her... I started liking him more and more. The story is well written and I never got bored of it as it's quite fast-paced! I loved imagining all those places (before War went through them) and I especially loved the way the main characters were described and how they evolved both mentally and emotionally through the book. 
I'll definitely read the 3 other books and I can't wait to discover what happens to those 3 other Horsemen! 

From time to time I like to step out of my comfort zone in my reading... and this book is clearly a whole different world than the ones I'm used to... I almost stopped it several times because, honestly, you have to hang on for the first half... but in the end, it still deserves 3 stars because the writing and the story are both very original. The author succeeded in making me want to discover the rest of this story that can't really be described... and he knew how to immerse me in a culture very different from mine while making me want to know more (especially to understand what is part of "real" legends and what comes out of the author's pure imagination). I don't think I will read other stories by this author but I would like to salute his originality!

What to say about this book?!??! I just LOVED it! The story is fascinating, the characters so well described and I felt so much emotions reading it! The mix between a fantasy story and some cultural aspects is so well-balanced that I totally jumped into the story after the first 2 chapters...
I usually don't "see" the plot in my head but I couldn't help imagine what it would be if it was a movie (I would definitely watch it, for sure!). So if the resume interests you, don't hesitate and jump into this amazing world!

I loved the story as it's a really original world with lots of informations in the first half of the book. The characters are well-described and I could easily jump into the story once I better understood who is who. The fact the story is told at the present with chapters about past events is really interesting as it's fluidly written and makes total sense. The only down point for me is a slow start and lots of informations (which is necessary) as I prefer fast-paced stories but I still really enjoyed it! 

J'aime toujours autant les livres d'Elif Shafak que je trouve empreints de tellement d'émotions et d'authenticité! Celui-ci est particulièrement "dur" et touchant (il n'est d'ailleurs pas recommandé pour tous... vérifiez les thèmes principaux avant de vous lancer!). Mais au fond, c'est toujours une merveilleuse aventure humaine que propose l'auteur avec son lot de douleurs mais aussi d'amour. Les personnages sont tout aussi disparates individuellement qu'harmonieux lorsqu'ils évoluent ensemble. J'ai beaucoup aimé la cohérence avec laquelle leurs histoires sont racontées et l'immersion dans Istanbul qui reste une ville pleine de surprises pour moi.

I loved the first book in this duology and I definitely loved the second one as well. Caelum and Brigid are so cute but this book is darker than the first with a lot of torture at the beginning so check the trigger warnings if you may be sensible to some contents! For me it was just the perfect dose of each side : dark, tensed and hopeful! I definitely recommend this duology and a big congratulations for this amazing work Jessica S. Taylor! I will read your other books for sure!!!
