This book is such a beautifully dark twisted tale. There’s romance, dark characters. It was such an unexpected read for me. I went into reading this book just knowing how famous the book was. I’ve only ever read Charlotte Bronte’s work. Wuthering Heights is a true classic that I believe will forever stand the test of time. This is not your average classic. READ IT. It will never leave my bookcase.

This book is so beautiful. I could not put it down. The language and love story pulled on my soul and I had to finish it in two sittings.

Vengeful is savage. Vengeful is ruthless. Vengeful is powerful. I loved this book. I loved how Schwab made powerful, ruthless women characters! June is such a badass!! Her powers are so cool. Marcella was a powerful, beautiful and brilliant character! I loved getting to know Victor, Mitch, Syd, and Eli more. This book has so many dark layers to it. This is the superhero/super villian book I have been waiting for.

This book is so good! I loved reading about the characters lives and what brought them to this point in the book. Writing this at 12:30am after finishing this book and my god this is a book! Throughout the book my favorite character was Inej. But now Jesper and Nina and Matthais are all my favoeites too! SUCH. A. GOOD. BOOK. Definately one of my tops favorite books now. The first time I tried reading this I didn’t allow myself to be fully immersed in this world. But this time around, so amazing. Reading this book is like watching an action movie. Love it!!

This book was so good! I think I love Daughter of Smoke and Bone more, but this was so amazing too.

This was beautifully written! I loved the message of not judging another creature on their looks. The monster over came so much, he managed to learn to speak and read on his own. It’s sad that Vicyor never saw his creation as a person with intellect. I think that’s one of the great ironies of the novel is that Victor did what he set out to do when he made his creation but he was too blinded by fear to see it. Unfortunately for Victor all the deaths that were caused by his creation are on his hands. He was too afraid to tell anyone of the monster and in the end he was just as alone as his creation.

Considering how hyped this book has been, even before its release, I was very skeptical about it. But that cover is beautiful! My friend read this before me and kept telling me that she didn’t think I was going to like it. And she was right.

However, there were things in this book that I did enjoy. I loved the humor in the book and loved Harrow and Gideon together! Their banter was so fun to read.

The book had zero world-building or a magic system. Was there power and magic? Yes, yes, there was. But it wasn’t a logical or a strong system. They just happened to be necromancers, but as a reader, I felt that I was just watching something unfold without actually being brought into the world. The world-building was nonexistent.

The writing style itself I found refreshing and original. It had a lot of humor in it. But the plot and world-building fell flat for me. For me, this book is very MEH.
