this is a lovely little read I love Eleanor. I hope that she is doing well in her life and everything that she put her mind to. It was really sweet to read from the perspective of abused child going through like recovering her adulthood and reconnecting with her inner child, and what it feels like for her to go to therapy and make friends and go back into the community and outreach into her environment. It was a really hopeful and uplifting book but I don’t know it just felt like what’s the author felt like the conversations with friends girly kind of got better at writing, and wrote this about adults I enjoyed it, but it’s just not my favorite style of book.

OK I’m biased because I love us and I love Leslie Jones and I love stand-up comedy. This book was basically like a Leslie Jones stand-up comedy special, just autobiographical on her life and also like peppered in with jokes that she does do during her stand upsets I really enjoyed the first half. It made me laugh and it made me cry and I was like wow this is amazing writing and it has so much insight into it like to be growing up as a black girl in America and then the second half I feel like might have dragged a little bit, but I still loved it and I was entertained by every chapter I laughed throughout this whole book and I don’t think I could ask for anything more except maybe more Kate McKinnon but I’m biased and gay.

another great Greek mythology, retelling book. I will never get tired of these. This feels like a Bible of Greek mythology, and even though it was the biggest nerd of all of the stuff growing up, there were so many back stories to things that I didn’t know about and also so many like foundational myths that have worked this way to our current western culture that was so interesting and then I also really really enjoyed learning about mist I never heard of before. It was crazy to think that these have just been circulating throughout our cultures for so many years and now we get to read all of them. Yay I enjoyed it I would recommend it.

perfectly good retailing of a Greek myth, not my favorite, not my least favorite. I really enjoyed the complex narratives regarding femininity womanhood, the physicality of leadership, as well as the retelling of the Greek story. I’m a hoe for these kind of books and I will continue to read them as they continue to produce them but overall just didn’t completely blow me away, but I like it enough

a great book club book i always love our conversations. the lyrical writing in this novel interweaves a deeply personal vignette of a queer elderly Caribbean man with a tale of the trials of marginalized families in the UK. i loved it!

so sorry i truly believe these books are not for me

the most predictable book ever. where was the mystery or the drama or the psychological thriller!!!! the main character is So Dumb at every turn where there could have been an interesting choice by the author, they instead succumbed to cliches. i’m tired

Another great mental health memoir for the books. i really liked her discussion of ocd, in patient treatment, and how the drugs made her feel.
