The Poisoner's Handbook: Murder and the Birth of Forensic Medicine in Jazz Age New York

Deborah Blum

DID NOT FINISH

The narrator of the audiobook version I was listening to was very flat and made the book more more of a slog than the interesting content deserved, but I had to put it down.

I got a few chapters in and quit because I found the book to be long-winded and preachy. If I hear the concept 'BUMMER' one more time I will lose my mind.

EDIT: I feel the above still applies. I gave this another shot as part of a reading challenge and still found it a bit unbearable and preachy. The underlying themes are good and the book is informative. It did motivate me to uninstall Instagram and hopefully quit Facebook, but I still found this essay collection to be exhausting and not very enjoyable.
