*DNF @ 70%*
Ok look I don't usually DNF books this far in...actually I don't really DNF books period. I try not to anyways. But I just can't keep doing this to myself. I genuinely loved the first 40% of this book, but it started to go down hill after that mark for me. I've found that when I push myself to read books I don't want to read, I get in a slumpy reading mood and I don't want that. So I've decided to call it quits. I didn't like where theses characters were going, and I didn't like the story after the 40% mark and I'm not gonna force myself to read it. Reading is a hobby for me, something I enjoy doing while also critically doing, and I don't like taking the fun out of my enjoyment. Hopefully that justifies this DNF

This was fine but,
*spoilers*
why do authors keep using the “oops we forgot to use a condom so I guess I’m pregnant now” trope

This was a book I anticapated reading a lot this year, but overall it was pretty middle of the road for me. The romance was pretty instalovey, and I didn't really like the some of the character relationships and friendships in here, and the problems in the relationships weren't really resolved in the end. And the ending was TOO perfect if that makes sense. Their is supposed to be a sequel coming out next year so I may read that, but based on the ending here, the questions I wanted answered weren't, and they wouldn't make that great of a sequel.
I did really enjoy the ice skating (which is mainly what this book is about), and that's really why I gave this book such a high rating. I love any kind of ice sport, ice skating being my #1 favorite, and will always watch the competion's on TV. When I was younger, I was the kind of kid to take every sport at least once, and ice skating was one I stuck with for about a year, after that year in which I decided I was going to be a soft ball player (which lasted all but 4 seconds). But often times I wish I stuck with it, because it is such an amazing sport, and so much fun to watch and read about.
Overall it was ok, but it felt like a book for the younger side of YA or a older middle grade novel, which isn't always a bad thing, but the way the author tried to write it and how it ended up executed just didn't work for me.
May try and read the sequel if I feel motivated to do so. Going to add it to my to-read list anyways though.

SPOILERS FOR RED QUEEN (but Red Queen sucked ass, so I would say read this review, because you are gonna hate yourself if you read Red Queen)
This book was worse than book 1. And when I tell you [b:Red Queen|22328546|Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)|Victoria Aveyard|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1449778912l/22328546._SY75_.jpg|25037051] was a FUCKING disaster, I fucking mean it. Basically the first 50% of this book is Mare Barrow (our stupid YA protaginist with the personality of a egg) complaining about Maven betraying her every 5 minutes, and how they were so in love blah blah blah.
Shut the fuck up you stupid bitch. Y'all knew each other for like 2 weeks. Then she gets all 'buddy-buddy' with Cal, Maven's brother, becasue why the FUCK not ya know? Oh and also she wants everyone to join her cult every five seconds, and no one wants to. And then she complains about that. And her stupid brother Shadow, or some stupid name is back from the dead too because again, WHY THE FUCK NOT?!
I genuinely don't understand how these books are published. Their TERRIBLE. AWFUL. One of the WORST YA fantasy books I have every read. Please, save yourself the pain, and don't read this series. I beg of you.

3.75 stars
I think I'm going to settle on a 3.75 for this, (rounded to 4). I enjoyed this, but I also had a few issues with it. I also didn't love the last 100 pages. I'll write a longer review hopefully tomorrow with more coherent thoughts!

Trigger warnings: PTSD, VIOLENCE, DEATH DEFYING STUNTS, MENTIONS OF DEATH
This book had so much potential but it didn’t hit the 5 star mark for me. The characters felt underdeveloped, and the romance felt very instalovey, considering were supposed to believe Grace and Henry hate each other (or strongly dislike each other) for a period of time. It also felt like [a: Amy Trueblood|6571327|Amy Trueblood|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1500938632p2/6571327.jpg] was adding in 1920s pop culture references, and real life people from the early 20s, to make it seem like she knew all about the 20s as a time period. It felt like she was adding in things just because.
But I did enjoy Grace as a character, and Henry too. The found family aspect was good, and even though the romance was instalovey it was still cute (I’ll admit it begrudgingly). I think what this book needed was 100 to 200 more pages of development and fillers (usually fillers in books is bad, but this book needs it) and it would have definitely been a 5 star book for me.
I did have a fun time reading this though, and it was a pretty good historical fiction so if your looking for one to read, this one has a found family aspect, a cute romance, and a head strong main character.
You know what did hit the 5 star mark for me though. THIS BEAUTIFUL COVER

I just think this is to outdated, at least for me. There’s a completely unnecessary sexual assault scene, no consent when have sex, and male character is really possessive. The sex was good though, and the World was interesting so that’s why it isn’t a 1 Star, but this series just isn’t for me
