These two made a TON of bad decisions but honestly, that's what I was here for so 👍🏻

(Ps- my favorite sports romance trope is when one of them wears the others jersey in bed. Drives 'em wild.)

While I enjoyed it enough, this one just didn't live up to its potential unfortunately. And there was a LOT of potential! I mean - anonymous hook up turned forbidden professor/student romance. A 13 year age gap. Loads of angsty backstory for our MC, Cameron. Solid tension and jealousy on both sides?? Set up was stacked.

Loved the set up & premise but it fizzled in the 2nd half of the book. The resolution came too easy and was a little schmoopy.  And I think it could have worked better if the story was a little longer and had more time to flesh out those moments that would have built up the tension. As it was, I felt like there was a lot of telling but no showing and we just kind of time jumped through the relationship.

So, overall, not my favorite.

But this series is fun & a little ridiculous and ultimately very sweet. I honestly think my favorite bits were when we get to see the progression of the big queer friend group being super supportive and loving of each other. (Loved the cuddle piles. Like just so cute.)

Will I ever learn what's up with Ansel? I'm so curious.

This is probably more of a me problem and not a reflection of the book itself, but I am simply not in the mood for the dark academia melodrama at the moment.

(Also, I won't lie. I had somehow convinced myself that this was queer and that there was a romantic subplot involving the characters on the cover and I read a review that said otherwise... but I wanted that.)

The narrator does a great job though.

Oh what is stronger than a death?
Two sisters singing with one breath.

A whimsical and melodious little treat of a story.

When it comes to the grovel, in Ms Draven we trust 🙂‍↕️🤌🏻

Ate it up. No notes.

A must read.

Let me just reference my previous updates:

"Hopecore, mother fuckers"

"My reading experience thus far has just been me mumbling "fuck yeah" to myself while getting teary-eyed. The people around me are confused."

"I'm going to be totally cool and normal about this book. - I lied, lyingly."

"Still reading. Still crying. A+ experience."

Picked it up because the fantasy elements intrigued me enough (and it was complete). Stayed because what do you mean the king of hell is actually just a big goofball simp for his human lover/ portal to and from Hell?!

Super fun. (But graphic and dark at times) And also, like those two losers were so in love frfr.
