I mean, come onnnnnn πππ
I never thought I'd say this about a 2nd Chance Romance but this was absolute perfection.
I would fight anyone that says something negative about Elliot flower-loving, soft-hearted, romantic as fuck Bloom.
Considering Julie Soto an auto-buy author from this moment onward.

And then, we formulate our strategy. A stroll through the park, swing by one of the galleries. A little oral sex before dinner, she can ride you for the appetizer, some chocolate cake, and then her sitting on your mouth for dessert. But first . . . first you have to get to know her. Itβs a perfect plan.
It's MGMF but through Rourke's POV and it was absolutely delightful β€οΈ
I think I read MGMF back when it originally came out so while I remember the general gist of the story, I am fuzzy on the details. Reading this was just a lovely reminder of why I enjoy cozy monster romance. βΊοΈ
I think my favorite thing about Rourke (other than the fact that he is grumpy and awkward) is the way that all of his spicy fantasies about Violet are so adorably domestic ππ

Katee Robert really said "Oh, you want messy??" and then she delivered it. This was high drama and scandal for sure.
This one features: MF, FF, MM, MFM (DVP!!)
Aphrodite arranges a political marriage to Theseus because 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer' and what's closer than marriage? They straight up hate each other; threaten murder and the likes. She decides to seduce his best friend, Pandora. He teams up with her jilted ex, Adonis, to make her look bad. And then, oops, sex ensues between a lot of different parties. And then, double oops, feelings are also involved.
And of course, all of this is happening while the crazy politics of Olympus is going on in the background.
I enjoy the polyamorous group dynamics in this one, especially because it is a little more nuanced than some relationships I've seen depicted in polyam romances. However, my biggest complaint is with Pandora and Aphrodite's relationship. I wish it had been more developed and given the same attention as the other relationships. The Aphrodite/Theseus/Adonis situation was given way more depth (even the Theseus/Adonis relationship felt like it was given more attention.) It felt like Pandora was just a convenient addition to the drama rather than a fully developed relationship that made sense.
I think part of that issue comes from trying to cram 4 different relationship dynamics into a book that is the same length as the rest in the series. More time was needed to flesh them out.
So, overall, I do not think this was my favorite from the series. Nevertheless, I am still so invested in this crazy world that Katee has put together. (And truly, all of the little nuggets related to Zeus/Hera⦠I am so excited to finally get their story.)

Perhaps nobody had ever been there when Toby needed help before. That just meant Miles would have to make him understand that he was now safe, loved, and cherished. And he'd need to do it for a reasonable amount of time. Such as forever.
Fuck me, I'm swooning. This was a delightful little novella. I've been wanting to get into KJ Charles but honestly had no idea where to begin.
This one was perfect because:
1. My attention span has been a disaster (so the short novella was ideal).
2. I desperately needed an audiobook because, as mentioned before, my attention span has been garbage and looking at words on a page sounds miserable right now.
3. This one wasn't narrated by Cornell Collins (I still have beef with that man for ruining The Princess Trap)
So yes, this was cute. Also, kudos to me for remembering to use Audible Plus.

Moral of the story is don't let midnight-me aimlessly scroll through KU looking for horny alien books. That can wait until the morning like any other respectable task.
Not enough kissing. Like, for a book description that states she's being sent to the demon-aliens to assist with their rut... I just wanted more rutting?
And there was so much non-couple related drama that felt super rushed. The dystopian colony concept had potential but it was just too much all at once.

I'd hacked my governor module and kept doing my job because I didn't know what else to do (except you know, a murderous rampage, but murderous rampages are overrated and interfere with one's ability to keep watching media.)
Murderbot and ART just fill me with such joy. Two best friends doing best friend shit.
SPOILER: When ART says, Tell her you care. Use those words. Don't say you'll eviscerate anything that tries to hurt her, but then turns around and threatens an entire colony to get it's best friend back πππβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ

β(Possibly I was overthinking this. I do that; itβs the anxiety that comes with being a part-organic murderbot. The upside was paranoid attention to detail. The downside was also paranoid attention to detail.)β

"I hate caring about stuff. But apparently once you start, you cant just stop."
I love Murderbot so much! He's just out here trying to get to point B and watch his shows but these dumb humans can't do anything without him.
