The writing just didn't do it for me. It felt like every scene was unnecessarily long and I just don't like the relationship between Vhalla and Aldrik. When they talk to each other it is all 'omg I love you' then aldrik will say 'nooo, I don't deserve you" or some other bs along those lines. Like ok, I get you have no personality and are only the love interest because you are a prince but you could at least grow a backbone. I also hate how there always seems to be some sort of love triangle between Vhalla and Aldrik or Vhalla and ____. Also, almost NOTHING has happened in 3 1/2 books. All they have done is walk across the countryside. 

I don't know how I feel about Aldrik, he kind of gives me crusty vibes

I kind of hope Aldrik actually died and Vhalla becomes a villain but we all know that isn't going to happen
