Guys you don’t understand, she’s just so small and tiny and infant-like and he’s such a bad boy because he swears a lot, but has a soft heart because he possesses basic empathy.
Why is a romance about a 15 & 17 y/o rated 18+ ?

Soft DNF. The premise and characters are very intriguing but unfortunately there were way too many POV’s. It made understanding the plot difficult and at 220 pages I still have no idea what is going on and who half the characters are that we get POV’s from.

Will definitely be coming back to this one to continue in the future, for some reason I just wasn't getting into the story and wasn't wanting to read it.
Not a bad book, just wrong timing for me :)

something about the writing felt super weird to me and I just could not get into the story.  The premise was super interesting though so I'm sad the writing didn't click for me.

I don't know if it was just a case of wrong book, wrong time but I just could not get into this book. This was such a highly anticipated read for me but felt like I was forcing myself to read it.
We were thrown into this murder investigation so quickly, literally from the first page, that we spent 0 time getting to know the main character and her friends/family or about any of the people involved in the murder. Like, 4 people died, and? I just didn't care about anyone in the book enough to be invested in the plot at all.
It also felt way too easy for this girl to get information, I definitely thought it would be way more of a challenge considering the book is set in 1758 but this girl has people confessing their darkest secrets to her within 2 seconds of a conversation. I don't know how considering she lacks any personality.

Just didn't care about the characters and wasn't interested in the story. There were some obvious events/characters that I was supposed to care about but didn't because we barely spent any time at the start world-building or introducing the characters.
My final straw was when the author/s spent 5 sentences describing a pine tree only for the character to 'forget' what they are called and call them 'pole trees'.

was just a bit too slow and boring for me. The writing style/choice of words made me feel illiterate and non-fluent in my own language. Ophelia also annoyed me

The writing just didn't do it for me. It felt like every scene was unnecessarily long and I just don't like the relationship between Vhalla and Aldrik. When they talk to each other it is all 'omg I love you' then aldrik will say 'nooo, I don't deserve you" or some other bs along those lines. Like ok, I get you have no personality and are only the love interest because you are a prince but you could at least grow a backbone. I also hate how there always seems to be some sort of love triangle between Vhalla and Aldrik or Vhalla and ____. Also, almost NOTHING has happened in 3 1/2 books. All they have done is walk across the countryside.
