Whew, this was a good one. It had me in major tears but overall it’s filled with hope and is extremely educational.

So I found this at the library when doing a search for Joe Biden, as he wrote the foreword. And I am grateful I did! What a story! What an inspiration. Sarah McBride is a champion for LGBTQ+ people and laws and equality. I can’t wait to watch her political career. We need more Sarah’s in this world. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of what it means to be transgender and the struggles this community faces. Excellent, excellent book.

This book ripped my heart out but built it back together with love and hope for the future. Five stars. Listen to it on audio-book if you can so you can feel the compassion behind Sarah's words.

Sarah's words are powerful and moving. She uses her story, her strength and her privilege to put a face to the fight for trans rights. I'm humbled that she shared so much so that I can learn about her trans experience.

Sarah narrates the audiobook herself and does an excellent job.

This book was the perfect blend of a deeply emotional personal narrative and an educational overview of the issues facing the trans community. Sarah is a brilliant and insightful writer and beautifully laced together her experiences of loss with those of hope. Extremely moving and definitely well worth the read.

Well done and affecting. My heart is with all those who were affected by the Trump administration’s reversal of the Obama-era transgender equality legislation

I learned A LOT from reading this.

All I can say is that if you're reading this, especially if you are trans, please read Normal Life by Dean Spade as well. Sarah McBride encompasses so much about white [trans] women (and cis women, and generally white people) that needs to be examined. Read Captive Genders as well, while you're at at. Sarah's transness does not exempt her from all of her other privileges, and while she makes incredibly cursory, frankly insulting, nods to these privileges that is simply not enough. I say all of this as a white trans person myself. We have to be more self aware, ya'll. Go read Normal Life, go read Captive Genders, because we have to be better than this.

I absolutely loved reading about Sarah McBride’s story. It’s mind blowing what she has achieved and been through in her life and I admire her strength and persistence.
