Disappointingly lackluster. I really like the first and second books in this series because of the fabulous world-building and strong characters. Chambers introduces a bunch of main characters that just felt like jello. I kept waiting for their stories to intersect and pull the thread in to place but it never happened.
This reads sort of like a series of short stories that all build up on each other as the colonists establish society on a new planet. There's fun and interesting world building (quite literally), but I found myself wishing the book would just hurry up and end throughout significant sections. I generally enjoy character driven stories, but there were just too many characters for me to become attached to or for me to understand.
[3.2] The whole plot and story is absolutely ridiculous. I guess I enjoyed reading this, but very often I'd just be like "Uhh, okayyy..." I also kept waiting for the big reveal, and the wait just didn't pan out tbh
