This novel has some serious flaws.
Characters you’re supposed to care about are nothing but annoying. The main mystery, supposed to keep you going through the long chapters of little plot, is based on a missing character who you are given no reason to miss. In fact, quite the opposite.
I was sold on the book having been told it was dark, but it really doesn’t deal with any themes I’d call dark. Rather, it mentions topics like rape and racism from time to time and calls itself edgy.
All the characters are surface level stereotypes. The ‘I’m not like other girls’, ‘annoying brother who just doesn’t care’ etc.
The main character prides herself on not falling into classic horror movie tropes. Well that stops as soon as a horror trope is needed for the plot.

The many twists at the end felt mostly earned and re-contextualised the rest of the story in an exciting way.
