I found this a bit boring at first, knowing most of the myths recounted in the first half of the book. The characters are all extremely unlikable for most of the book as well, which made it partly an exasperating read. The last quarter of the novel definitely made up for a lot however, with the introduction of Odysseus being surprisingly pleasant, and his family striking up a really enjoyable and refreshing friendship with Circe. I am also happy that the author chose to grant Circe a happy ending - even if it was one that was semi incestuous (why is everyone in Greek mythology related anyway!!). The writing style was a bit flowery for my taste, but it arguably suits the book, Circe being literally surrounded by magical herbs and flowers at all times. If you want a feminist tale of a Greek goddess, a story about a witch being both powerful and kind, and a beautifully written novel full of magic, I would definitely recommend this, even if it wasn't 100% for me.

A very cosy read!! A bit sad at the end but not too angsty at all, and I'm excited for the characters to stay in their home town instead of traveling again in the next book. Wasn't quite mind-blown so it's not 5 stars, but definitely enjoyed it a lot!

Definitely not as amazing as the first two books in the series, but still really enjoyable. I found the plot a bit slow, the political debates too long, and the new characters not as memorable or lovable as previous ones. But I am excited to see what the rest of the series brings, and I hope the books get better again!

I loved this so much!!! Such a fun and beautifully written heist story with a kind of steampunky fantasy setting. Lots of magic and wonderful characters that I am now very fond of. Also LOVED the queer rep and the beginnings of the relationship developing there 👀 The representation in this book in general is really lovely imo. Can't wait to dive into book 2!!

I was gonna write this review yesterday at 1 am when I actually finished this, but honestly was having way too much of a book hangover 😭😭 I can't believe the series is actually over 😭 And what an ending!!! This is honestly the most well-rounded book in the series. I am so impressed with how the author wrapped up everything. There are a lot of themes in this book (ghosts, parallel time dimensions, a murder mystery, epic fantasy), and it could have easily been an absolute mess trying to to do many things at once, but it all blended nicely and made for a wonderful read. All the plot points that first seemed unrelated came together in a very satisfying way. Also I mean can we talk about Thero??? Because man that character development!! If I think of how annoying he was in book 1 hahaha. I also love how strong the female leads are in this book, and I loved the additional child's POV, something we didn't have in the previous books. The way the author turned around the story of slavery in this world was also very nice, as I kind of hated the initial dive into that topic in book 4. Seregil and Alec are the perfect OTP in every way once again of course, not much to say there! So basically I'm a bit of a mess and this review is very incoherent but I love this series and I am very very sad that I will never get more Seregil 💔

This was fantastic!! So much court intrigue and lots of action + breaking into nobles' houses! The only fault I find in it is that the first half was a bit slow, and it took a while to become a real page turner. Very excited to pick up the last one in the series next (as soon as my Audible credit becomes available ha).
