A quick and entertaining read. Middle school grade book with a female Sherlock Holmes. It would be a great read aloud in a class and a great introduction to Sherlock Holmes.

An essay on the impact of book covers/jackets on an author's work.

Everyone loves a feisty heroine who hates the next door neighbor's oldest son.

I tried getting into the story and when I was finally able to enjoy she would change timelines and narrator. One of the narrators was nameless and I didn't like that at all, I wanted a name to help me focus.

Good beginning and end, but I got lost in the middle - but that is the point. The book takes you down every rumor and then debunks with facts and footnotes. While interesting, I lost interest in the middle; I am not sure if it was all the new people involved or not confusing Russians names, but I found it hard to concentrate.

I would recommend if you are interested in Rasputin.

Entertaining read. Charlotte Holmes & Jamie Watson meet/live at a Prep School in Connecticut. They are also the great-great-great-grandchildren of "the famous ones." What could go wrong?
