LOVE LOVE LOVE this books!!! Wish there were books like this when I was younger and growing up. Felt thoroughly empowered and proud of my blackness while reading this and watching the game unfold, the cultures, the representation, the unity! It delved into self hatred and extreme beliefs that we all too often see within the community and the struggle that comes with that. “The magic of blackness is what we make it, that we define our future”- Brittney Morris #BlackGirlMagic #BlackEmpowerment

DID NOT FINISH

DNF page 228. Tried so hard to push through but the DRAMA was more than I can handle after rolling my eyes more than a few times. Learned a lot about deaf culture and graffiti. Was surprised and loved the diversity and representation in the book;POC protagonist(Indian), D/deaf, and her two mothers who are married! And also Deaf(very supportive!). Those are the positives, that’s it. Was anticipating this read for a while but unfortunately it fell flat.
