I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but I love almost any dystopian YA novel. I'm getting more and more picky as I age out of the YA genre's target audience. Although I gave this book a five star rating because I really like the plot, it wasn't quite as dark as I'd hoped. It didn't quite delve as deeply into emotions as I had hoped it would. I also thought the romance was a bit sudden and needed more development. In sum, this book would have been perfect with another 100 pages to develop the romance, or it would have been perfect without any romance and more depth of darker emotions.
I still went with five stars because I have great hopes for this trilogy and I enjoyed Lucian's character enough to make up for the shortcomings of the novel.

This book suffers severely from middle book syndrome. It introduces a lot of characters and not much happens, making for a forgetful and somewhat boring middle chapter. I did enjoy seeing Ash want to do more and I like the "twist" at the ending. I'm picking up the next book now, with hopes that the last chapter won't suffer from this chapter's shortfalls.
This was an alright book. It took me ages to finish it because I came to several points where I simply wasn't interested any longer. Grace felt like a total Mary Sue/Bella Swan love child, who was super loving and intelligent and good at everything she did in a Mary Sue way and completely devoid of character and parental guidance in a Bella Swan way. Grace had no personality or character apart from Sam, even from the time when she was bitten at seven and fell in love with the wolf part of Sam. Everything she did revolved around Sam and so she just wasn't interesting to me. I didn't buy in or care about what happened to her at all. In fact, the only character I half way liked was Beck.
I'll wait awhile before picking up the next book. I'll try the rest of the series after this book challenge is finished. I can only take so much at once.

I enjoyed this book and was pleased at the conclusion to the trilogy. I felt like some of the fighting was a little rushed and the characters could have used a little more attention, but overall, this was a pleasing final chapter to a nice YA dystopian trilogy.
