This was not for me.
I guess I thought this would be witty and fun but it was like an alien pretending to be an adult pretending to be a child barfed words they thought would be funny and shocking onto page after page. Only it reads more like Slam poetry X Cringe Soup for the Soul.
The satire was not satiring for me.

Read if you like:
Fairytales
Magic
Mystery
The Golden Girls
Dry Humor
Minor Blood & Gore
G-rated Romance
Admittedly, I have not read the Goose Girl by the Brothers Grimm, but I did enjoy this retelling nonetheless.
This felt like a regency era, dark fantasy based mystery with a sprinkle of romance and comedy. Hester, Imogene, and Penelope (aka the Old Bitties) are who made this story fun for me. I loved their personalities and snappy banter! The story itself is also entertaining as you watch the magic and mystery unfold from Cordelia and Hester's perspectives.

"Let them call you witch, as they do any woman that professes strength."
Its absolutely not necessary to read Macbeth before diving in, but do it anyway because its great. Lady Macbeth is quite the departure from the source material and I'm not bothered a bit by it. These are different women. A retelling, after all.
Fear not, theres murder a plenty. Plus we get a surprising and messy romance of sorts. The Lady gets a name! And we get the slow transformation from timid girl into a strong Lady and Queen.
