A mild mannered, cozy ish version of Futurama, but with ALL the consent, political correctness, and hand-feet you could ever want (maybe too much?!).... Aaaand a tad boring.
I LOVED this book. Great coming of age story with some spooky ish vibes. ❤

The exact type of fantasy my inner tween craves.
3.5 ⭐'s
Dark fantasy with Gothic vibes.
Nearly 4 stars for me but the first HALF of the book felt like the character introductions would never end, and there were only 3 POVs. Once we hit the forest and castle the story started to pick up (thoroughly making up for the snooze of a beginning) and I flew through it! An ever changing, murky setting, with fates intertwined, and mysterious magics and Gods at work.
I'd be interested in a sequel especially if it had more to do with said magics and Gods.
Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC.

An interesting affair bogged down by writing that felt waaay more like historical fiction... A tale of an evil (and fat, least we forget) midwife that led a group of desperate and/or greedy women to poison unwanted, and sometimes awful, men and babies/pregnancies.
I was thoroughly confused about a good deal of this world & storyline due to all the "wibbly, wobbly, timey, wimey... stuff."
