The best of this series so far. Every character has great development, and the stakes are high from the get-go. My obvious favorites are Percy, Annabeth, and Nico (OG series forever) but Leo and Frank really grew on me in this book (I liked Hazel from her introduction, and she only got better). The only weak point in this book for me is that I have a hard time connecting to Jason. Piper's identity has always felt tied to Jason, but she began to individualize in this book and become her own hero. Unfortunately, I feel like that left Jason in a lurch. He's not quite Roman anymore, but he's not Greek either. I think that as a reader, you also aren't sure where you fall with him since he doesn't know where he belongs either.
challenging emotional informative medium-paced

There are nuggets of wisdom in here for anyone who has been hurt emotionally by their parents, and fountains of knowledge for those who grew up with parent(s) who are emotionally immature. Incredibly useful, straightforward, informative.

I've been missing Succession and this book was a salve for that specific type of heartache. I found this to be very well-written, with complex and interesting (if at times unlikable) characters. P.S., in my head, I pictured Adam exclusively as Bill Walton, who passed during my time reading this book. Rest in Peace Bill, you are a San Diego legend.

This is the second YA K-pop idol romance I attempted to read this year, but I think I'm just not enjoying high school romances anymore. Maybe it's the fact that I turned 27 on Friday so I'm ten years older than any of the characters.
