I'm not like a huge Jewel fan but my God did I learn a lot about her life journey in this. Her story is so insanely heartbreaking and I think she does a fantastic job with not sugarcoating, even when she gets to the happier parts of her life. I also really enjoyed that she included the song version of some of her poems because it gives a nice 'coming to fruition' vibe that most people will never get to experience outside of being involved in music.

I received this book as part of a book exchange and I’m very happy that it ended up being a lot different than what the title suggests. However, while Dr. Alexander’s experience was enlightening to hear about, the (unsurprising) heavy medical jargon is what made it a little difficult for me to read at times (a personal preference). I think if I listened to this on audiobook I would have had a better experience.

The fact that this took itself so seriously was fucking fantastic. Loved every second of it. This is essential listening for anyone who is a fan of 'The Boys' tv show. 

This was a great piece of history in a very digestible amount. While a short compilation, I think it does a wonderful job at giving the reader (or in this case, listener) a way to understand the timeframe that Hughes was describing in his poetry. Also, narrator Dion Graham was absolutely fantastic and quickly became a narrator that I need to listen to more of.

As a longtime Storm fan, I think this collection is a perfect way to showcase different aspects of her life and relationships with others. It’s a great way to introduce her as a character to new fans and is one that I will require as essential reading to start off with discovering Storm’s origins.

I swear to God my jaw dropped at the big reveal because I thought I had the twist pinned. Joke's on me I guess. Such a great listen. Great voice acting all around. Love the format of true crime podcast feel. My only complaint is that I wish it was a full-length story because I could only imagine the chaos that could've occurred.

This made me want to rewatch 'Reign.' Loved learning about Mary's story in depth. Narrator Lucy Rayner was absolutely fantastic and I definitely want to check out more of the books that she's narrated. 

I had to give up halfway on this book. Literally none of the characters are redeeming. You main character is a doormat. I was filled in on what happens with the lawsuit aspect and it did not surprise me whatsoever. The ‘twists’ were unsurprising when told to me because with how everything was going it’s like ‘of course this happened.’ Just no.

This was way better than expected considering how short this was, and I really hope that this turns into a series to keep the discussion going. I think those criticizing that the topics of discussion bring nothing new to the table are the ones that probably believe that retelling the same stories of famous killers, exploiting the victims, and not batting an eye to the millions of non-white victims of crime is totally fine, which honestly is one of my biggest complaints that I’ve had with true crime related material. I think the experts were great and I’m definitely going to look up more of their works.

This was very informative and as someone who is always interested in science regarding light, I feel like this was a great introduction (and even more so because it involves the arts). It’s a bit short so I highly recommend finding something long form if you’re interested in continuing to learn more.
