I'd say this was a relatively extensive history of coffee, but overall I learned a lot. I think this was a perfectly informative (ex. the overall evolution of coffee, how different cultures engage in the coffee experience, the history of coffeeshops in general, etc.) while also not being afraid to discuss the dark side of the coffee industry (ex. slavery, attempts of prohibition, the corporation aspect in general, etc). Highly recommend to coffee lovers and those interested in learning more about the Food & Beverage industry. 

I definitely would have preferred that this duology to have been a trilogy, as I would have liked a little more time with a few of the new characters that appeared in this book. However, Vernon did a really great job with not only continuing on the the character development for Avi and Saige from the first book, she did a fantastic job with creating this dark world that makes the reader really think about where we currently are in modern society and what we can do to not end up in a world being portrayed in these books. This sequel wasn’t perfect, but the high action and constant twists and turns elevated the reading experience. I can’t wait to see what Vernon does next.  

Slightly too heavy on the 'Grumpy' for a Grumpy x Sunshine book, but my god I love Eve and her excessive Sunshine-y personality makes up for it. I also really enjoyed seeing how both Eve and Jacob navigate their level of being on the spectrum, and it shows that being on the spectrum is a gift even though the world tries to say it's a burden.

I ADORED THIS!  It's rare for me to be able to relate to both leads of a romance book, but Talia Hibbert knocked it out of the park for me on that aspect. Zaffir being a hopeless romantic who is also struggling with anxiety and grief while Dani is having a fear of committment due to someone really fucking with her heart are characteristics that have been or are a part of my daily life, and it's really nice to see in a modern rom com.  

I had a lot of fun with this collection! I liked that each story had its own thing going on but still kept a few tidbits flowing throughout (like Misty’s relationship with Falcon and having their hitchhiker children making an appearance). I absolutely adore Misty and Colleen’s friendship and they’re such a great example to share with younger readers.

It's been a while since I've read a good dystopian book and this one definitely makes my list of top dystopians. The stakes were the perfect amount of intense without being too over-the-top or convoluted (in fact, I feel like they were eerily relevant to our current social climate). From reading the author's note at the end, it's apparent how much time and love was given to this book, and I can't wait to read the sequel.

This is a perfect balance of memoir, self-help and philosophy, like, I think I've learned more about philosophy and personal development in this book alone than from any other book or even school classes I had taken.  

Talia Hibbert is officially one of my new favorite authors! I absolutely adored this. I related to Chloe on so many levels (especially her list making and lack of sense of direction). And I'm already in love with Dani and she barely appears in this. 

Men drawing women issues aside (because let's face it, it's just a thing in comics), I had a lot of fun with this! I got a lot about who Misty and Colleen are as individuals and as a partnership. Ricadonna as a villain was great because she embraced her bimbo-ism and created a high stakes challenge for our girls. And normally I get upset when they just throw in one of the bigger named male characters just to have them, but Tony Stark, The Punisher and Iron Fist actually served purposes and didn't take away from Misty and Colleen's adventure. 

I know that interview format is a hit or miss for readers, but I absolutely love that format and this did a fantastic job of not only being informative but also giving the "characters" that we get to meet their own personality (especially for a non-fiction, history-focused book). I was equally shocked and not shocked by the chaos of the punk scene documented in this book, and highly recommend for music lovers.
