3.5 stars. By the time the audiobook came up on Overdrive, I'd forgotten that this book was non-fiction until I came here to post my review. Really interesting & engaging and charming. Since it's war-time London, there are some really sad stories in there too.
I read this for the Book Riot Read Harder 2017 challenge bc it was published by a micro press. But this book was definitely not for me.
This was a fascinating account of what it’s like to be in the press pool that follows a campaign, especially a campaign that was so different from anything anyone had seen before (and where the candidate’s vocal displeasure with the media led to angry crowds and death threats against journalists).
This was very much a memoir about her experience. It’s NOT “Game Change,” so don’t go in expecting that.

I read this almost 10 years ago, and when I picked it back up again I remembered exactly two scenes! So I'm not sure if I raced through back then or what. There were times when it felt a bit meandering, but it's more of a tone-driven book than a plot-driven one. And it's a great read to snuggle in with for the night.
Could NOT stop listening. Not my usual kind of book but I heard so many recommendations that I checked out the audio. It was a great sci-fi thriller but also had a lot of emotional/philosophical heft. Actually reminded me of Liane Moriarty’s What Alice Forgot.
