The first half was all recipes, then the 2nd half was divided into crafts and clothes. The clothes section was the most interesting to me, so I think I should go read one of his style books. The guy is hilarious though, and this book was worth a read just for his snarky take on common grammatical errors at the very end.
Checked this out through overdrive and it expired before I finished. The parts I read were interesting but his language was pretty crass and his attitude wasn't great. I doubt I'll check it back out.
My 3 stars might not be fair. I didn't think it was AS funny as his stand-up, but it was still really funny. I listened to it on audio in snatches in the car over about 6 months, which didn't help. Although he's a great narrator.
Brilliant, agoraphobic Bernadette Fox vanishes after an intervention by her worried husband goes badly. Eight-grade daughter Bee is left putting the clues together (mostly in the form of emails, school memos, even FBI files) so she can find her mom. I really enjoyed this and was so relieved at the happy ending!
I really wanted to love this--I love the premise. Emma logs on to AOL in 1996 and sees her future Facebook page. She calls her friend Josh over, and soon they are checking in daily on the details of their future lives, which change based on even the small decisions they make now. Emma's future self doesn't seem happy, so Emma is frantic to change her trajectory, whereas Josh is blown away by his future (rich and married to the high school goddess) and doesn't want to do anything that might change it.
I think part of my problem is Emma. If I were her, I would be LESS concerned about who she marries and MORE worried about not becoming an annoying whiner. Judging by her future FB updates, we have:
Texting & surfing the Web on her phone while driving
Complaining about her spouse & airing their dirty laundry
Really vague posts meant to invite questions
Using the word "hubby"
Choosing the "It's Complicated" relationship status
Still loving "Glee" in 2012
Badly done, Emma.

Loved this so much. I knew nothing about Hugh Brown and now he is one of my heroes. Get to know him if you've ever wondered whether "liberal" and "faithful" have to be oxymorons!
