Intriguing dystopian read about a future where genetic engineering advances have cured cancer but cause subsequent generations to die young (males at 25 and females at 20). In an effort to repopulate while scientists search for a cure, young women are abducted and forced into polygamous marriages.
Sixteen-year-old Rhine is kidnapped & then purchased by Housemaster Vaughn, a wealthy and ruthless scientist, to be his son's 4th wife. Rhine is desperate to escape, but if she can't play the part of contented, adoring wife convincingly then she won't be leaving alive.
I couldn't put this one down, even if some threads left me a bit queasy. Am still deciding if I want to leave it the way it ended or if I will want to check out the sequel. There are some (non-explicit) sexual situations & discussion and a somewhat-scary childbirth scene, so I wouldn't aim this one at young teens.

Spooky, fast-paced read about an old sycamore tree that stays alive by draining the life from 12-yr-old boys. Teddy Matthews just moved into town and is the tree's newest target. With everything working to lure him into the tree, can he save himself and the other victims? Great for kids ages 10+ who enjoy shivers down their spines!
I only skimmed this (was a bit over-loaded with cleaning books) but I like the premise. (Change your house rather than your behavior.) May end up coming back to it if what I'm trying out now doesn't work!
Entertaining bit of fluff about a girl in NYC whose ability to perceive magic (without being influenced by it) lands her a job at a magical corporation hidden within the city. Fun enough of a read that I'm requesting #2!
Listened to the (very much abridged) audiobook on the drive to DC. It followed a Q & A format and some of the discussion was really fascinating, especially about subjects where my knowledge is pretty murky (Vietnam, Nixon, etc.). It was interesting enough that I'd like to tackle the unabridged version. Be prepared though to hear about a few of our less-than-shining moments . . .
Never saw the show, but picked up this along with their shorter How Clean is Your House?, which I actually preferred. This is a great reference though for how to keep a home running and especially how to keep it clean. Plus they are just sassy, and call me things like "love." Not as in-depth as the massive Martha Stewart's Homekeeping Handbook but it covered pretty much anything I would ever (not) want to clean.

Enjoyed this quick and dirty (heh--see what I did there?) guide to keeping your house clean. I like their tone, I liked their tips, and I especially liked that they focus on using a few basic cleaning products including baking soda and vinegar rather than compiling an arsenal of toxic mess.
