This was fascinating and gave me so many new things to think about! It brought home to me (yet again) how limited our LDS approach to the Bible can be. It seems like we mostly take verses and stories out of context without really availing ourselves of the scholarship that’s out there. (Plus we are already handicapped by the tradition/mandate of using the KJV rather than a more accurate translation.)
I haven't read anything else by Shauna Niequist, and I enjoyed this one enough that I want to check out some of her other stuff. I'm close to her in age and this was a good time for me to be thinking about some of her questions--especially the idea of evaluating whether the life you are living and the way you are spending your time & energy is really in service of your most important priorities and/or people.
I wanted to try reading something by her and this was available on Overdrive. I like her voice, and some parts caught me more than others. I’d like to try some of her newer stuff and see what I think.
It was good, all her books are good. But at the risk of sounding like trash, I was expecting the excellent steam I’m used to from this author and there was none! Nothing but a few kisses. So I guess this will be a good Guillory to recommend to friends who are not as trashy as I am.
