This book is so educational about coming of age in a world where you feel so "other." Where everyone seems to be in on something you are missing. Asexuality is so under-discussed in our society, often leaving youth confused what they feel/don't feel. This graphic novel will be a great tool for adults and young adults a like, in learning about asexuality and aromanticism. I loved the author's perspective in this graphic novel and the vulnerability they displayed.
This memoir is a deep look into the life and journey of a trans woman. Janet's writing and stories are so raw and real, it was hard to believe the stories were real-life at times. I am so grateful to authors like Mock that open up their lives for others to learn from and through. This book really changed the way I think about some things and made me more aware of struggles faced by trans persons.

Required reading. For everyone. I learned so much from this book and realized I have so much learning to do. This book explores so much of LGBTQIA+ history. So many things I didn't even know I needed to know. Highly recommend!

This book is cute! It's so good to see books with youth trans representation. We need more of that.
The writing was bland at points and the plot a little slow at points, but overall a good book!

Graphic: Homophobia, Transphobia
OK, I've said it before: magical realism/fantasy is hard for me. But I loved this! It was such a unique perspective into a trans woman's life. The author showed how trans women can be bada$$ and fight back against the social norms that are constructed against them.
This book was very elementary as far as body image goes. The author really didn't do a deep dive into topics, which is what I think the audience really wants, and probably even needs. Topics of fat acceptance, learning to live with your body, etc. were just briefly discussed in different ways. This would be a good intro to those just learning to reject diet culture or who are not familiar with body acceptance at all.
Graphic: Body shaming, Fatphobia
The perfect beach read! A cute story following two BFFs as they figure out what they mean to each other. I loved the flashbacks to previous summer trips Poppy and Alex took. Gotta love a good Friends To Lovers
