A beautiful and heartbreaking memoir. The descriptions of grief and loss are so well done.

I cannot describe how uncomfortable this book made me. The whole premise - a young 20 something daughter hooking up with her BFF's mom. WHILE THE FRIEND IS IN THE HOUSE. Just no. I could not even enjoy most of the book because I was feeling bad for the friend/daughter the whole time.

This book is well written and a beautiful story, I am just not entirely sure I knew what was happening the entire time?

This is a very, very deep dive into Viola's story of growing up very poor. Viola overcame many obstacles to get where she is today. She had a dream to be an actress, and she fought so hard to make it come true. This was hard to read at times, but is so good.

Such a good story to share, and a powerful narrative about very real situations Black and other POC Americans face. The story was a little rushed at times.

It was a slow start, but ended up very cute! A good historical rom com. Love the Wynchester family.

Thank you to Forever for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. These are my thoughts only.

I loved this book! First of all, such a great sapphic romance. One of my favorite things is that it doesn’t center around the sexy scenes. One of the main characters is experiencing trauma-related sexual dysfunction and Karelia does such a great job of navigating that and making the character feel respected by the love interest. There is just so much respect and consent between the two main characters.

I really enjoyed the plot of following them as they try to get a movie funded. It was cool to see the behind the scenes (see what I did there ;)) stuff of what it takes to pitch a movie.

I got a little emotional reading this at the end! I got really sucked into the characters’ stories, their families/friends, and their journeys. I really appreciated the supportive side characters in this book. I could just feel the strong bonds and love they all had for each other.

I recommend reading!! It’s got a little bit of humor, adventure, love, and is all around a great story
